Holiday

Day 16 – Tokyo

This was probably the longest holiday we ever had with the kids. We had gone for 2 weeks’ trips to Europe but this tipped the scales at crossing the 2-week mark.

We checked out of hotel at 1030am and had brunch at Hoshino Coffee. The French toast was very good in Japan but I preferred the Singapore’s version of Fuwa Fuwa and pasta for the stronger taste.

We spent the day shopping. After so many days of kids-centric activities, it was finally time for us to shop!

We ended up going to Bic Camera to gawk at the Fukubukuro but the better ones were out of stocks. I was highly amused by the Rolex Fuku!!

The others

We did not buy any Fukubukuro bags from Bic Camera as the better ones were already snapped up the day before. It was quite fun to see what each bag contained.

We bought a baby-G watch for Z at 8000yen (SRP in Singapore was $139). We also picked up an Instax camera and more instax film. I had thought it would be fun for the boys to have instax for their first day of school and to paste in a journal. We bought more toys and headed off to Ginza.

Sadly for me, but gladly for my wallet, the flagship H store was closed. There were New Year Day sales in Ginza but on the pricier end, starting from 20,000yen at the departmental stores. By 1530h, we had to take the metro back to Shinjuku and to take the 1610h shuttle bus back to hotel for our 1650h Airport Limousine bus.

With 5 luggages, 3 backpacks, 2 kids and 1 stroller, the bus was the best way of getting to the airport. Porter service was also provided.

We took a while to get to the airport due to the jams on the road leading to the city, to Odaiba & to Disneyland.

We had some time for shopping and loaded up on the snacks for gifting. Before we knew it, it was time to board and to bade goodbye to this city of fun, gadgets & delicious food.

On board

When the video on evacuation procedures during emergency mentioned that we could refer to the brochure for details, X promptly whipped out the brochure and read. Mr H & I were tickled pink that our 35.5 months’ old toddler understood the video and did as what the video said.

We definitely observed a significant development in X’s speech and vocabulary after this trip. We enjoyed every time he spoke and made funny remarks. How precious such times were to working parents like us, where we did not have the luxury of spending every single minute with the children. Then again, if we had to face them every minute, I doubted we would cherish these moments as much.
